Sailfish - Winter's main event. These things jump like they're trying to fly. Fifteen jumps per fight is normal. They tail walk, grey hound, and generally lose their minds when hooked. Most get released but the photos are forever.
Mahi Mahi - The ocean's neon signs. Bulls turn electric blue when fired up. Cows stay gold and green. Find a weed line or floating log and you've found mahi. They eat everything and fight like teenagers at a concert.
Tuna - Yellowfin pull harder than anything swimming. Hundred pounders feel like cars. Blackfin are smaller but taste better. Both species run the Gulf Stream edge all year. Sushi doesn't get fresher.
Marlin - Blue marlin are the Super Bowl. White marlin are the playoffs. Both species jump, run, and sound repeatedly. Summer brings the biggest fish. Watching a 500 pound blue marlin clear the water completely changes your perspective on fishing.
Wahoo - Fastest fish in the ocean. They hit lures at highway speeds and keep going. First run takes 300 yards before you can blink. Teeth like razors mean wire leaders or heartbreak.
Grouper & Snapper - The reef donkeys. They pull straight down and don't quit. Gag grouper over 50 pounds test your back strength. Mutton snapper fight way above their weight class. Both taste incredible.
Kingfish - Old reliable. When nothing else bites, kings save the day. They're everywhere, eat everything, and fight respectably. Perfect for keeping rods bent.
